build it up!

Powder Keg are going to build a theatre. 

 

Why is a building called a building when it’s already been built? Why is a theatre called a theatre when theatre isn’t being performed? Do questions and semantics help anyone, or are we just stuck in a cycle of pointing fingers and expecting things to change?

 

Build it up! is a durational performance that explores how collectives can re-imagine the structures and systems that define theatre, from the ideas that form a show to the physical work that puts together bricks and mortar and makes a building.
