CALL OUT - BID WRITER (2 DAYS // FEE £300)

Deadline passed

At the height of lockdown, Powder Keg presented Build it up! in our back garden. Now we want to take it to the outside world. Venues have been contacted, a creative team is beginning to take shape, and we’re currently figuring out logistics to make the best show that we can.

However, we need more money, and our track record with successful funding isn’t as consistent as we’d like. We want to use the money we have right now to work with someone to help us write up a solid application.

We’re looking for someone who has experience of writing bids for Arts Council Funding to work alongside the four Powder Kegs in writing our bid. Our current plan is to apply for a Project Grant over £15k - this will be our first time applying for this much, so someone familiar with the ins and outs of these would be welcome, but not essential. This is all subject to change of course.

We will be looking for a producer in the future for Build it up! so this might be a good way to get to know a new producer and see if we gel. However, this call out is just for the role of Bid Writer - we will be doing another call out for a project producer nearer the time.

The fee is £300 for 2 days worth of work. This fee is directly from us, there will be no waiting around to see if the bid is successful before you get paid.

If you’re interested, drop us an email on powderkegmcr[at]gmail[dot]com with a short paragraph about yourself and any experience we may find useful. If you feel like you don’t have relevant experience, that’s ok - we want to work with someone who’s enthusiastic about the project and wants to work with Powder Keg, and if this is a way for you to gain more experience in bid writing then we really encourage you to get in touch. If you’re more comfortable sending over a voice note, or a video clip, then please do. Please, No CV’s.

If you want to know more about the show, you can watch a version of it that we filmed in our backyard here. Alternatively, get in touch via email and we can send over a previous application pitch.

We know that makers and producers of African or Caribbean heritage are significantly underrepresented in the Theatre ecology of the UK. With that in mind, this callout is specifically for theatre producers of African or Caribbean heritage based in the UK.

Please get in touch with us by 5pm on Wednesday 7 October. We appreciate that this is quite a quick turnaround, so if you have any questions then get in touch with us on the email above. Once we have made a decision, we will notify everyone that has applied. This will be no later than Wednesday 14 October.

Cheers,
